The Tinubu Continuity Movement for the South East (TCM) has extended an open invitation to women and youths across the Igbo-speaking states to join the Movement as part of a broader strategy to strengthen inter-regional political cooperation and advance the long-term aspirations of the South East.

In a statement released by the National Coordinator of the Movement, Prince Solomon Okorie, the TCM emphasized that the initiative is focused on unity, inclusion, and strategic engagement among the five South East states—Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Anambra.

According to the statement, the Movement seeks to mobilize Igbo youths and women in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, while also building a strong political bridge between the South East and the South West (Yoruba nation). “The future of Igbo political relevance lies in organization, unity, and strategic alliances,” the statement read. “By actively participating in the Tinubu Continuity Movement, our youths and women will be positioning the South East as a dependable partner in national politics and strengthening the foundation for broader support for Igbo leadership aspirations in the future.”

The Movement described women and youths as critical drivers of political awareness, grassroots mobilization, and sustainable national development, stressing that their involvement would ensure that the South East speaks with a united and influential voice in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Ebonyi State Security Commander Unveils Robust Christmas Safety Strategy to Curb Crime and Protect Residents

Prince Solomon Okorie

Hon. Prince Victor Nwenyi Commander Ebonyi State Internal Security & Neighbourhood Watch

In preparation for the upcoming Christmas season—a period often marked by heightened criminal activity—the Ebonyi State Commander of the Neighbourhood and Security Watch, Ministry of Internal Security, Hon. Prince Victor Nwenyi, has outlined a comprehensive security plan aimed at safeguarding residents and visitors across the state.

Speaking on the state’s readiness, Prince Nwenyi disclosed that security agencies have already intensified surveillance on watch-listed criminals, a move that has forced some of them to flee the state. He revealed a growing tactic among criminals, who now use ‘knockouts’ (firecrackers) to test an area’s security alertness before attempting crimes. He strongly advised members of the public to avoid the use of fireworks during the festive period, noting their implications for public safety.

Holiday Crime Prevention Strategy

According to the Commander, the security architecture for the season involves a blend of proactive and intelligence-driven measures. These include:

Close monitoring and clampdown on watch-listed criminals.

Strengthened information networks with vigilante groups, particularly in rural and remote communities.

Deployment of covert strategies designed to disrupt criminal activities and discourage their inflow into the state.

Maintaining rapid response capabilities to handle emerging threats.

He emphasized that these measures have already yielded results, including recent arrests that exposed criminal methods used to test community vulnerability.

Youth Engagement and Public Education

A key component of the festive-season security plan is a Youth Summit scheduled for Tuesday, aimed at educating young people about:

Crime and its consequences

Drug abuse and drug-related dangers

Human trafficking, especially the rising trend of luring teenagers with fake offers of jobs abroad

Proposed Security Summit:

Professionals from the police, Federal Road Safety Corps, drug enforcement agencies, and academia will be deployed to deliver lectures on 12 December 2025. The initiative is designed to curb crime committed out of ignorance and instill positive societal values among youths. Parents are also encouraged to attend to learn more about protecting their children from traffickers during the festive season.

Manpower and Rural Security Network

Prince Nwenyi assured the public that the government under the proactive leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has provided adequate manpower to ensure effective patrols and operations throughout the holidays. A solid partnership with local vigilante groups has also been reinforced to strengthen intelligence gathering. These groups act as the eyes and ears of the security agencies in remote villages, ensuring that suspicious activities are detected early and addressed swiftly.

He reiterated that the combination of manpower, intelligence sharing, youth education, and community engagement will guarantee a peaceful and secure Christmas season for everyone in Ebonyi State.

NAPMED Ebonyi Grants Burial Rights to Families of Deceased Members

By Prince Solomon Okorie – Guidepost News International

The Ebonyi State Chapter of the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medical Dealers (NAPMED) has conducted its annual remembrance ceremony to honor deceased members who upheld the association’s standards during their years of service. The event, held for the northern zone of the state, recognized 28 out of 31 late members, with their families receiving official burial rights from the association.

Speaking at the ceremony, the State Chairman, Hon. Jerry Ikporo, explained that NAPMED exists to regulate vendors of over-the-counter medicines and ensure strict adherence to guidelines set by regulatory bodies such as the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and NAFDAC. He noted that in many rural communities, NAPMED members serve as the first point of healthcare access, making compliance and proper training essential.

Hon. Jerry emphasized that members must operate strictly within their approved scope and avoid encroaching on the duties of doctors and nurses. He added that the association routinely monitors its members to ensure they do not violate established rules and organizes periodic seminars in collaboration with regulatory agencies to keep them fully informed and compliant.

He urged current members to maintain integrity and professionalism, while advising prospective members to undergo proper training before starting a NAPMED-approved business. The annual remembrance ceremony, he said, not only honors deceased members but also reinforces the association’s commitment to responsible healthcare service delivery and continued support for the families left behind.

UNIEC CHALLENGES THE LEGAL BASIS AND PROCEDURAL VALIDITY OF THE LIFE SENTENCE IMPOSED ON MAZI NNAMDI KANU

PRESS RELEASE
December 1, 2025

UNITED IGBO ELDERS COUNCIL (UNIEC) WORLDWIDE

To: The Igbo Nation, All Nigerians, and the International Community

The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide categorically questions the legal soundness of the life sentence recently pronounced on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by Justice Omotosho. Available facts indicate substantial procedural irregularities, violations of established judicial precedents, and reliance on allegations that have been previously dismissed as unsubstantiated.

UNIEC recalls that:

Nigerian courts have discharged and acquitted Mazi Kanu of similar charges.

The High Court of Kenya affirmed violations of his fundamental rights under Kenyan and international law.

The United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention declared his detention unlawful and called for his immediate release, compensation, and reparations.

In light of these precedents, the new sentence appears inconsistent with Nigeria’s obligations under domestic and international legal frameworks, including the 1999 Constitution, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the ICCPR, and binding UN decisions.

UNIEC is equally troubled by the apparent inaction of the majority of Igbo political office-holders, whose silence may inadvertently be construed as acquiescence to a judgement already widely criticized by legal experts, rights organizations, and international observers.

We hereby demand:

1. Immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in compliance with prior court orders and international directives.

2. Full compensation, rehabilitation, and restitution, as prescribed by the UN Working Group.

3. Protection of his life and safety, especially in light of his recent transfer to Sokoto, which raises legitimate concerns regarding jurisdiction, security, and precedent.

UNIEC appreciates the millions of individuals and institutions—domestic and international—who continue to insist on legal accountability and fidelity to the rule of law.

UNIEC EXPRESSES DEEP CONCERN OVER THE SENTENCING OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU AND CALLS FOR RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP

By Prince Solomon Okorie

PRESS RELEASE
December 1, 2025

UNITED IGBO ELDERS COUNCIL (UNIEC) WORLDWIDE

To: The Igbo Nation, All Nigerians, and the International Community

The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide expresses deep concern regarding the recent sentencing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment—a judgement that has raised significant questions about procedure, evidence, and adherence to established legal norms.

We note with appreciation the few Igbo political representatives who have spoken out in defence of justice. However, UNIEC is particularly concerned that the broader leadership community has maintained silence at a time when collective moral clarity is most needed. Leadership requires not only representation, but also the courage to speak when justice and equity are at stake.

UNIEC respectfully urges all Igbo political leaders—both elected and appointed—to align with the national and international voices calling for a review of the matter, and for the pursuit of all lawful avenues to secure Mazi Kanu’s immediate and unconditional release, compensation, and rehabilitation.

We recognize that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has previously been cleared by competent courts within and outside Nigeria, and by authoritative global institutions, including the United Nations. We therefore call on the Federal Government to demonstrate its commitment to the rule of law and international human rights standards.

UNIEC further expresses concern regarding reports of Kanu’s transfer to Sokoto and requests assurances that his safety, health, and human dignity will remain fully protected.

We thank the millions of Nigerians and friends of justice across the world who continue to advocate for fairness, peace, and national healing.

UNIEC CONDEMNS THE CONCERNING SILENCE OF IGBO POLITICAL LEADERS OVER THE UNJUST SENTENCING OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU

UNITED IGBO ELDERS COUNCIL (UNIEC) WORLDWIDE

To:
The Igbo Nation, All Nigerians, and the International Community

By Prince Solomon Okorie

The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide expresses profound concern over the troubling silence of many Igbo political leaders regarding the unjust life imprisonment recently imposed on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by Justice Omotosho, despite overwhelming evidence of procedural irregularities and unsubstantiated allegations.

While the global community has almost unanimously condemned this verdict as a miscarriage of justice, only one Senator and one House of Representatives member—those representing Kanu—have publicly spoken out. The quiet indifference of other Igbo political leaders has given rise to widespread allegations of complicity in Kanu’s prolonged ordeals, mirroring the silence often witnessed in the face of the broader injustices and severe hardships confronting the Igbo population in Nigeria.

UNIEC maintains that any Igbo political leader who has not benefited from these injustices should, as a matter of conscience, immediately join other voices in condemning this judicial travesty and demanding Kanu’s immediate and unconditional release, along with full compensation and rehabilitation.

It is important to reaffirm that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is neither a terrorist nor a criminal. He has been previously exonerated by competent courts in Nigeria and Kenya, as well as by the United Nations, and is regarded as innocent by all internationally accepted legal and moral standards.

UNIEC once again calls, unequivocally, for his immediate and unconditional release, compensation, and rehabilitation. We further caution that his reported transfer to Sokoto must not become a prelude to any form of additional harm or endangerment.

UNIEC extends heartfelt gratitude to the millions of Nigerians—and indeed to people of conscience across the world—who continue to demand justice for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. His sufferings have become a symbol of the broader plight of the Igbo and other marginalized communities in Nigeria. We stand firmly with all who work toward justice, fairness, and the protection of human dignity.

Ebonyi APC Strategizes for ‘One-Party System’ Against 2027 Election to Accelerate State Development

By Prince Solomon Okorie

Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, APC Chairman, Ebonyi State

ABAKALIKI, EBONYI STATE –The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APC) in Ebonyi State is actively pursuing a political strategy aimed at unifying the state under a single-party structure to foster unity and speed up development.

Speaking yesterday at the party secretariat in Abakaliki during an event welcoming a defector from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, outlined the ambitious goal.

“Our primary goal is to create a one-party system to foster unity and accelerate state development,” Chief Emegha stated, emphasizing that collaboration, rather than opposition, is the most effective path forward for the state.

Recruitment and Unification Strategy
Chief Emegha detailed a deliberate strategy of consolidating political power by personally reaching out to key stakeholders and experienced political figures from opposition parties, persuading them to join the APC.

The rationale, according to the Chairman, is to eliminate needless conflict and bring diverse expertise to the decision-making table. He stressed that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is willing to listen to advice from experienced individuals, regardless of their past political affiliations, for the collective good.

“Continue outreach to key stakeholders to persuade them to join the APC is still ongoing,” Emegha assured. He revealed specific recruitment targets, noting, “We are assiduously working to ensure that resourceful individuals join the party by the 28th of this month, and we are still aiming to have another key figure join between December 1st and 18th.”

Discipline and Candidate Selection
Addressing concerns over potential infighting as the party absorbs former rivals, Emegha highlighted the role of strict party discipline as the “bedrock” of the party’s strength, necessary for managing a large, unified structure.

The Chairman emphasized that joining the party does not guarantee an election ticket. He asserted that candidate selection will ultimately depend on popularity and the will of the masses, stating the party, led by Governor Nwifuru, will prioritize public opinion over party loyalty to ensure only popular candidates who can deliver “dividends of democracy” are supported.

Barr. Timothy Odah (aka Due Respect)

The event saw the defection of a former commissioner, Barr. Timothy Odah, otherwise know as Due Respect, who had been out of politics for 12 years. The former official explained his return as a “clarion call” driven by a desire for peace, unity, and a collaborative effort to bring development to his previously neglected region. He stated his focus was not on running for office but on contributing to progress and ensuring peaceful, non-violent elections.

The overall objective of the APC’s strategy, Emegha concluded, is peaceful collaboration to deliver development, such as roads, bridges, and people-oriented infrastructure, to all neglected areas of the state.
