Nkalaha-Herders War: Gov. Nwifuru Disburses Over 108 million To Victims

By Prince-Solomon Okorie – Guidepost News International

Following the massacre at Nkalaha, over hundred and eight million naira (N108,000,000) has been disbursed to the victims of alleged herders attack in Nkalaha Community, Ishoelu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

In a brief meeting held at Ezilo, Ishielu Local Government headquarters, Thursday. The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, said the fund was to cusion the effect of the attack and enjoined them to judiciously, utilize the fund, assuring them that his administration is doing everything to ensure that such ugly incident never occurred again in any part of the state.

The governor who was represented at event by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Obila, assured members of the community of governments readiness to addressing some of the Infrastructural deficits in the area, and pleaded with the people to embrace peace and shurn anything that could trigger crises in the area.

“With a heavy heart, I reflect on the tragic incident that happened on February 2 in Nkalaha. The loss of lives and properties was devastating, and we must live together as one family to ensure it never happens again,” Obila said.

The breakdown of the compensation shows that 18 bereaved families received ₦2 million each (₦36 million), while owners of 41 destroyed buildings got ₦1 million each (₦41 million). Four destroyed motorcycles were valued at ₦1 million each (₦4 million), while victims who lost cash during the attack were refunded a total of ₦816,000.

The Fulani community in the area also received ₦20 million for cows lost during the attack.

She commended stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace, assuring that the state would not abandon Nkalaha.

The Deputy Governor also announced that victims not captured in the first phase would be considered in subsequent rounds of assistance.

On her part, Mrs Peace Ifeoma Agwu, the Executive Chairman of Ishielu LGA, described the governor’s intervention as “historic” for the people of Nkalaha. She said the attack, carried out by yet-to-be-identified gunmen, had left deep scars on the community, but swift government action helped avert further escalation.

“Not all leaders would show such compassion. His Excellency has restored permanent peace in Nkalaha, and our people have returned to their farms and businesses,” Agwu said.

Speaking, the National Deputy Director General of MACBAN, Sidiqi Gidado said that about 140 cows were killed during the crisis and commended the State Governor for the compensation paid to its members.

“People infiltrate some of our people and the indigenes and when they cause havoc in the community, it will be tagged farmers and herders’ crisis which is not. The cattle dealers and the farmers are the vulnerable people whom their business are in the forest,” he added.

Gidado said that the community has set up a local vigilante and pledged that MACBAN will work with government and the community to ensure that peace is sustained.

The Town Union President of Nkalaha Community, Mr. Eze Donatus NnajiOgo, said, “We’re here today and we’re happy with what the Government is doing. On behalf of Nkalaha Community we are praying for the governor”

He however, expressed regret that out of the 18 persons killed in the attack, 10 were still in the mortuary while 8 have been buried, and urged the State Government to put modalities in place to ensure the burial of those still in the mortuary.

He further lamented that the community can no longer be accessed because of bad road and called on the government to extend its infrastructure programmes to the community.

Apart from the road, Mr Donatus also pleaded with the state government to rehabilitate the dilapidated hospital in the community, saying. “We can only access healthcare in Ehamufu in Enugu State.

“Nkalaha Community cannot be accessed because of dilapidated roads. The State Governor graciously gave us a 2 kilometer road but since last year till now, nothing has been done on the road.”

The traditional ruler of Nkalaha Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Thompson Ebeh, recounted that tensions escalated after a cow was reportedly killed in Ameko land, sparking reprisals. He confirmed that 18 residents, alongside owners of destroyed buildings, motorcycles, and farmlands, were among those to benefit from the government’s N22 million compensation package.

“We cannot fight them. The only solution is understanding and dialogue to prevent further clashes,” Ebeh stated, noting that security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), had mediated agreements between the feuding sides.

Similarly, the traditional ruler of Ezillo Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Innocent Okafor, commended the government’s swift intervention, stressing that the tragedy underscored the need to value human life above animals.

“Nothing is worth more than life. The Fulani herdsmen crisis cannot be solved by traditional rulers alone government must take the lead,” Okafor remarked.

The stakeholders noted that the Nkalaha attack has become one of several violent flare-ups linked to disputes between herders and farming communities in parts of Nigeria.

They expressed optimism that the Ebonyi State Government would be committed to sustaining peace in the area through continued dialogue, security surveillance, and humanitarian support.

Recall that 18 people were massachred on the 2nd day of February, 2025 by gunmen alleged fulani herdsmen in Nkalaha Community.

Ebonyi Journalists Enjoy the Best Press Freedom in Nigeria – NUJ Chairman

By Prince-Solomon Okorie – Guidepost News International

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council, has strongly refuted claims suggesting that press freedom is under threat in the state. The council described such assertions as misleading and the handiwork of individuals seeking undue attention.

In a statement issued to newsmen, Comrade Samson Nwafor, Chairman of the Ebonyi State Council of the NUJ, asserted that Ebonyi remains one of the safest states in Nigeria for journalists to practice their profession.

The statement reads in part:

“The attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council, has been drawn to the activities of some clout-chasing individuals who are spreading false narratives in sections of the media, alleging that press freedom is under threat in Ebonyi State, following the suspension of the Acting General Manager of Legacy FM, Mr. Odoh Godfrey Chikwere, by his employer.

The Council hereby states as follows:

  1. Journalists in Ebonyi State enjoy the highest level of press freedom in the country.
  2. The NUJ affirms that the Ebonyi State Government, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, respects the independence of the press and has never interfered in the constitutionally guaranteed duties of journalists operating in the state.
  3. To the best of our knowledge, no journalist has been harassed, attacked, molested, or threatened in the course of duty by the government or its agents under the current administration.
  4. The NUJ and the Ebonyi State Government maintain a cordial relationship grounded in mutual respect for each party’s constitutional roles.
  5. The suspension of Mr. Odoh Godfrey Chikwere by his employer does not amount to a breach of press freedom. Employers reserve the right to manage their workforce, including disciplinary actions where necessary.
  6. Media practitioners are urged to uphold professional ethics and avoid allowing personal bias or sentiment to cloud their journalistic responsibilities.
  7. The Council cautions those spreading unfounded claims about press suppression in Ebonyi to desist from interfering in matters that concern practicing journalists in the state.
  8. The NUJ also warns the public to be vigilant against impostors who pose as journalists with the intention to mislead. Journalism, the Council noted, is a regulated profession with clear entry requirements, and anyone not meeting such standards should not be regarded as a journalist.

The NUJ Ebonyi State Council reiterated its commitment to upholding press freedom while maintaining ethical and responsible journalism across the state.

GOV NWIFURU’S VISION IN ACTION: EMPOWERS EBONYI YOUTHS WITH PRACTICAL SKILLS, FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES

By Prince-Solomon Okorie

In today’s rapidly evolving world, the need for youth empowerment through vocational training has become more crucial than ever. Traditional education systems, while important, are no longer sufficient on their own to prepare young people for the demands of the modern workforce. Vocational skills, particularly in areas such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), building, and production, offer practical, hands-on knowledge that equips youth with employable skills, entrepreneurial potential, and a pathway to sustainable development.

The Ebonyi State Government led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has ‘promotion of vocational and technical education’, as one key factor necessary for achieving needed results in revamping the education sector in Ebonyi State. The Governor has continued to note that one of the most pressing challenges in many economies is the mismatch between the skills taught in schools and those required in the job market. For him, vocational and technical trainings help bridge this gap by focusing on practical competencies.

These impactful ideologies can only yield results when implemented correctly. To achieve this, the Governor has repeatedly partnered with professional bodies to deliver these trainings through the State Ministry of Skill Development and Job Creation. For instance, the Government of Ebonyi State, in collaboration with NASENI, trained 100 youths on modern electrical installation techniques in November 2024 and provided them with necessary tools. Furthermore, the State Ministry teamed up with BERWO in August 2024 to skill Ebonyi youths in fashion design, hairdressing, barbing, shoemaking, and almaco glass construction. Same was achieved with the Agribusiness trainings in Enugu, ensuring they can effectively utilize their skills.

The State Ministry for Skill Development and Job Creation will launch another 3-month intensive vocational training program for 100 Ebonyi youths in four days’ time, focusing on ICT, Construction, Building, and Production skills. The program encompasses basic training in data analysis, video editing, graphics design, photography, solar and CCTV installation, interior decoration, cream production, candle making, wood cladding, paint production, wig revamping, and entrepreneurship. Upon completion, the youths will receive empowerment support. This initiative demonstrates the Governor’s steadfast commitment to equipping Ebonyi youths with essential skills that align with market demands.

Accordingly, Governor Francis Nwifuru has initiated these measures and more, to tackle youth unemployment, promote entrepreneurship and innovation, drive technological and industrial growth, and foster lifelong learning and adaptability, all aimed at boosting Ebonyi State’s overall economic growth. These initiatives align with the The People’s Charter of Needs mantra, which the Governor has consistently implemented point by point.

The minutes of the physical meeting of the United Igbo Elders Council held at La Nueva Hotel, in Enugu State, on 5th July 2025

The meeting commenced with an open prayer.

It’s important to note that UNIEC participated in a two-day summit organisedby the National Assembly to review the 1999 constitution.

Opening remarks: The Director General, His Lordship Justice Alpha, appreciated members who took their time to attend the zonal public hearing summit on the review of the 1999 constitution, which took place at the International Conference Centre, Enugu. The DG described the presence of members as commendable efforts and a symbol of commitment towards the actualisationtion of UNIEC core values.

UNIEC History:

Bishop Ikpeama narrated what led to the change of name and registration of the organisation. Adding that, “We started as the Anambra Elders Forum. When we visited Abia State we discovered that they have an organisation with a similar name. We decided to comeup with a universal name; that was how we came to register the name United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC)Worldwide.

It is worthy of note that UNIEC has 35 per centt of all the retired judges, which makes the organisation a formidable one,”he added.

Justice Anthony Iguh, former judge of the Supreme Court of Nigeria is the president general of UNIEC Worldwide. Though his tenure had just expired.

In order of transparency, Bishop Ikpeama informed the house that Innoson Motors donated his brand new bus to UNIEC,and Chief Dozie also donated an SUV car to the organisation; both vehicles are valued above N20,000,000 each.. Chief Alfam asked if the vehiclesare still properties of the organisation. His Lordship Ikpeama affirmatively admitted yes.

He stated that the organisation Secretariat is at Justice Iguh’s residence but that the inauguration took place at Government House.

He charged state reps to be serious and work out their salvation in their various states, that the national executive council (NEC) will not support them financially, but if there is any worthwhile project or programmeme they want to embark onon that requires NEC presence, that the national body will come if invited. He further said that state chapters should establish a State Executive Council (SEC) and prepare for their inauguration.

Prof. Obasi Igwe has been playing an impactful role in the organisation; that’s why heis a signatory to every document of the organisation.

Membership Registration: Justice Ikpeama said that membership registration was N30,000 but has been increased to N100,000.00. Apart from the registration fee, we are also required to pay annual dues.

We needed prominent personalities that would be appointed as Board of Trustee (BOT) members. On that note, we asked Igwe Nwewi to nominate for us, and he gladly nominated Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of Innoson Motors; DrCosmas Maduka, CEO of Coscharis Group Ltd;; and other names that will be published on on the platform later.

In Delta, we have Asaba of Asaba. Recall that we posted on the platform that state reps should give us two prominent names that fit the position enlisted,, which many have not complied with hitherto.

State reps were advised to constitute their state executive council (SEC) as well as to open a bankccount and start registration of members soo as to start generating their own fund through registration fees and annual dues. Chief Alfam suggested that state registration fees and annual dues should be much lower than national, as thatwould encourage people to join the organisation.

Prof. Obasi Igwe asked how much the current annual dues and registration fees are; in response, Bishop Ikpeama said that annual dues weree N12,000 before but have been increased to N20,000. Then the registration fee is N100,000.

To make the organisation stronger, Igwe Nwewi was asked to nominate people that will be part of the BOT members. He nominated Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of Innoson Motors; Dr. Cosmas Maduka, CEO of Coscharis Group Ltd; and a lotlot of others that were nominated by state reps. The comprehensive list of BOT members will be published on the platform soon; their nomination letters are underway.

We appointed the CEO of ChiscoMotors a national patron; when he wasto receive a title in Lagos, he invited us and gave us N4,000,000,, and the money was also shared among members.

He added that the national executive council is still as designated in the organisation’s structure; he used Rivers State as a case study, stating that the president general is zonedto Rivers State and still remains so.

The Rivers State Rep thanked His Lordship Ikpeama and extended his appreciation to members of the organisation for zoning the presidenteral position to Rivers State and nominated HRH Eze Fyneface Amaechi for the position. Eze Fyneface Amaechi thanked everyone and said that he will volunteer himself for service because he is passionate about UNIEC; if the BOT or whoever that is in charge of appointments seess him fit, he is willing to serve.

Prof. Obasi Igwe said, in order to promote Igbo unity in diversity, that we should allow the zoning the way it is.

His Lordship Ikpeama said that he will soon publish the names of BOT on WhatsApp. He charged members of UNIEC to take their duties seriouslyly because the UNIEC is becoming the voice of the South East; hence, Ohanaeze is suddenly becoming voiceless since the appointment of the incumbent president general.

MrsOjukwu advised that we are not politicians, neither are we Ohanaeze, and that we should choose wisely before appointing who becomes the president general.

The Deltate chapter has submitted its state executive council list; state chapters are encouraged to follow suit if they have not done so.

Bishop Ikpeama said that in less than one month, we shall fix a date for the inaugurationion of the BOT members, and the tenure for BOT and NEC memberships is four years, according to the UNIEC constitution.

Registration Status:

The DG, Ikpeama, clearly defines the registration status of The Great Igbo Achievers,, which he said is registered as “incorporated trustees”,with a minimum of two persons and a maximum of fifteen persons. While the “Alaigbo Achievers Legacy” is also registered by guarantee as a limitediability organisation

He said that when we are done with UNIEC restructuring, we shall reconstitute committees for the Great Igbo Achievers Legacy, which works hand-in-hand with itsworking document, “The Great Igbo Achievers Book of Records”, and and is a beautiful and exciting project. The Great Igbo Achievers Legacy Day Celebration and Award presentation and the Great Igbo Achievers Book of Records are to be handled as two programmeses but one event.

He shed light on what led to the suspension of DrObiora, the former national LOC chairman. He said he went on his own accord and borrowed N2,000,000 to be paying interest of N500,00 monthly without due process; he did not consult the DG, nor did he consult the house.

Chief Alfam suggested that for us to have an effective membership drive, state reps should appoint local government coordinators who will form the state executive council. He added that if we keep the price for state registration at N50,000, we cannot have up to five members in the state. He pleaded that we bring the price for the state registration down so as not to scare people away.

Hon. Henry Ogwudu advised that we as a social-cultural organisation should correct some negative notions that Igbo has no king and that the Igbos like money more than brotherhood. He supports the motion that we should inaugurate the state chapters before the national so that the awareness created in the state will announce that of the national.

Chief Samuel Okorie suggested that state registration fees should be much lower than the national.

Prince Solomon Okorie said that he is very happy for this general meeting. He added that a lot of things have been said in this general meeting, just like they have always been said during our online meetings, but what do we do with it? We did nothing about it. “The biggest problem we are facing is lack of implementation.” All these points under discussion are what he had raised in our online meetings, and he had also advised Bishop Ikpeama privately, and nothing was done about it. Before some of us joined the organisation, I learnt that the proposed annual event failed last year (2024), and it failed again in April 2025 due to lack of implementation, and up till now, we are not even sure that it will hold this year, since the year is drawing to its end. Prince Solomon advised that we should endeavour to implement anything we agreed on; that is the only way and the best way forward. He eulogises the creative prowess of Bishop Ikpeama, whom he described as “a creative workaholic who creates something new every day.” He pleaded with the DG to stop creating new organisations so that we can implement the ones on the ground, as we know that faith without work is dead.

The meeting was brought to a close with a prayer said by Mrs Elizabeth Ojukwu.

Finally, the meeting was adjourned to continue online on a date that will be announced later.

Signed:

Prince Solomon Okorie, Secretary, UNIEC

PENCOM  Sensitizes Ebonyi NLC, TUC Leaders on Contributory Pension Scheme: Would-be Beneficiaries Express Their Fears

By Prince-Solomon Okorie

Abakaliki, August 6, 2025 – The Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, who was represented by Mrs Sandra Igbokwe today led a high-level sensitization workshop for the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ebonyi State, aimed at deepening understanding and promoting the adoption of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in the state.

In her opening remarks at the event, Ms. Oloworaran welcomed key stakeholders including the Head of Civil Service of Ebonyi State, representatives of Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and Pension Fund Custodians (PFCs), and members of the press. She described the session as significant, noting that it marked her first official engagement with organized labour in Ebonyi since assuming office.

Highlighting the legal framework guiding pension administration in Nigeria, the PenCom DG emphasized that the Pension Reform Act 2014 empowers the Commission to regulate and supervise all pension matters across the country, including those at state and local government levels. She warned against the establishment of parallel pension structures by states, stating that all pension legislation must align with the provisions of the PRA 2014.

Ms. Oloworaran outlined the key advantages of the CPS, stating that it removes the pension liability burden from state governments while guaranteeing that retirees receive their benefits promptly. She noted that states implementing the CPS are on a more sustainable path, citing Lagos, Niger, Osun, Ekiti, and Delta states as successful examples that have leveraged pension funds through bonds to finance major infrastructure, including the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.

“The CPS is not just a social safety net for workers; it is a tool for economic development,” she said, stressing that the scheme presents a unique opportunity for states to access long-term funds for infrastructure while securing the retirement future of their workforce.

Addressing gaps in understanding, the DG stressed the need for continued engagement and education of labour leaders. “Our goal is to bridge the knowledge gap surrounding the workings of the CPS and its benefits,” she said. She also assured that PenCom remains committed to ensuring prompt payment of retirement benefits across both public and private sectors and supports state-level flexibility in the adoption and implementation of the scheme.

The forum, she added, serves as a crucial platform for open dialogue, problem-solving, and collaborative action towards pension reform in Ebonyi and beyond.

“I commend the Ebonyi State Labour Executives for their openness to this dialogue. Let us all work together to protect our future through the Contributory Pension Scheme,” Ms. Oloworaran concluded.

The sensitization forum was attended by top labour leaders, government officials, and pension industry stakeholders, and is expected to catalyze further discussions on the adoption of CPS in Ebonyi State

From the state angle, Dr Isoma Arunnaya Inya, the Permanent Secretary, Establishment Pension and Management Services, Office of Head of Service, who represented the Head of Service of Ebonyi State, said:

Her words:
I’m here in a dual capacity, to represent the Head of Service and my office. I wouldn’t stand here and conclude that the proposed contributory pension introduced by PENCOM is feasible or not or be adopted in the state. I will take the information which I deduced from their sensitization lecture back to the Head of Service whom I represent; he will in turn relate it to the governor, who will interface with workers to know if they will accept or reject the proposal. And I’m sure that His Excellency, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, being a worker-friendly governor, is always on the side of the civil servants; he will do what is right for workers, and he will not impose it on them should they reject it.”

“Though workers have their fears, this is because the Ebonyi State Government had earlier ventured into the contributory pension and found that in reality it does not work; money deducted from workers salaries was returned back to them. Now that they want to reintroduce it, we are yet to fathom what they have done differently to assert the workability this time.”
Comrade Igboji Chidi, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Ebonyi State, said that some programmes introduced by the federal government are potentially advantageous to citizens of this country. The beauty of this program is that it is still a proposal which civil servants have the right to reject or accept. When the federal government introduces some good programmes for the good of the citizens, the Nigerian factor usually plays its adverse role; those at the helm of affairs abuse it to the detriment of the beneficiaries. The plan for the contributory pension scheme, if adopted, is to ensure that workers do not suffer after years of onerous service but retire to their contributory pension savings.

“We have listened to PENCOM resource persons; as a labour leader, I will take the information back to the beneficiaries for them to evaluate the pros and cons before deciding whether to accept it or reject it; we cannot impose it on them.”

“Worker’s money is at stake; that’s why people are afraid to embrace it because of what happened in the past. During the time of President Buhari, the money was tampered with; the federal government borrowed money from the commission, which was not the purpose for which it was established. These are some of our fears.”

Comrade Ogugua Egwu, Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), has this to say:
“The National Pension Commission is here in Ebonyi State to sensitise the people on the importance of the contributory pension scheme born out of Parliament. The reason for this sensitisation is to convince the workers to adopt the scheme. At the end of their presentation, the workers have to evaluate the pros and cons and make decisions to accept or reject the proposal. No decision will be made without relating with the beneficiaries.” He said.

UNIEC Worldwide Rejects Proposed Bill for One Supreme Ruler in Nigeria

By Prince-Solomon Okorie – Media Consultant

The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide firmly rejects and distances itself from the proposed bill seeking to install the Sultan of Sokoto as the supreme traditional ruler over all kings across Nigeria.

UNIEC Worldwide cannot in good conscience support such a bill because it fundamentally contradicts the spirit and reality of the Nigerian nationhood. Nigeria is not a one-man country nor is it a mono-ethnic state; it is a richly diverse federation comprising multiple ethnic groups, languages, cultures, and traditional institutions and religion. Attempting to elevate one traditional leader above all others undermines this diversity and risks igniting ethnic tensions.

UNIEC Worldwide Presents:

Supporting such a bill would amount to endorsing ethnic domination, cultural colonization, and a return to autocratic governance. It disrespects the heritage of other ethnic nationalities and delegitimizes the authority of other revered traditional rulers who command deep loyalty from their people across the regions of Nigeria.

UNIEC Worldwide remains committed to the principles of equity, mutual respect, and true federalism. Every traditional institution must be allowed to thrive within its cultural context without interference or subjugation by another. Any attempt to impose a single paramount ruler across ethnic boundaries is not only unconstitutional but also dangerous to national unity.

INTRODUCING :

We therefore call on lawmakers, traditional leaders, and all patriotic Nigerians to reject this bill in its entirety and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s cultural and ethnic plurality.

Signed:

His Lordship Justice Alpha Ikpeama Director General UNIEC Worldwide

United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide Pays Courtesy Visit to Enugu SSG Ahead of Great Igbo Achievers’ Legacy Day

By Henry Ogwudu – Reporting from Enugu

In a bid to strengthen collaboration for cultural preservation and development, the United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Chidebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Enugu State. The high-powered delegation was led by the Chairman of the Central Organizing Committee, His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikpeama, accompanied by the Enugu State Representative, Hon. Henry Amaechi Ogwudu.

The purpose of the visit was to engage with the state government in preparation for the forthcoming Great Igbo Achievers’ Legacy Day and the historic unveiling of the Igbo Book of Records, scheduled to hold at the Enugu State International Conference Center.

UNIEC Worldwide, driven by its mission — “Advancing Humanity, Empowering Generations for a Greater Igbo Society” — seeks to partner with the Enugu State Government to deliver what is projected to be a landmark celebration of Igbo excellence, heritage, and global achievement.

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the transformative strides currently underway across Enugu State under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. From infrastructure to education, tourism, agriculture, and industrialization, it is evident that Enugu is not only the capital of the South East but also the emerging heartbeat of modern development in the region.

Even the blind can perceive the ongoing metamorphosis, and the deaf can feel the rhythm of the Smart City revolution spearheaded by the Mbah administration. Enugu is fast becoming a model state — making it the ideal host for an event of such cultural significance and historical relevance.

UNIEC Worldwide expressed profound admiration for the state’s remarkable achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to align with the government’s progressive vision. The Council emphasized the importance of documenting and celebrating Igbo legacies — past and present — as a means of inspiring future generations and fostering a unified Igbo identity.

The Great Igbo Achievers’ Legacy Day promises to be a momentous gathering of Igbo thought leaders, traditional rulers, global achievers, scholars, cultural icons, and visionaries. The event will feature keynote addresses, awards, exhibitions, cultural displays, and the landmark unveiling of the Igbo Book of Records.

With the anticipated support of the state government, this celebration will not only honor distinguished sons and daughters of Igboland but also showcase Enugu State and the South East as a hub of excellence, innovation, and cultural pride.

Enugu is moving — and UNIEC Worldwide is proud to be part of the journey.

Ndigbo is set to witness a celebration that will echo through generations.
